Clifton Lodge Ski Trip 2020
Ski Trip 2020
Ski Trip 2020
On Wednesday 12th of February, we set off from Heathrow with high spirits and lots of energy, ready for a fun filled week of skiing in Pamporovo, Bulgaria. We had a smooth journey there and next day were ready for our first day on the slopes. After collecting our skis and boots, the pupils skiing ability was assessed and they were placed into the appropriate beginners or intermediate/advanced groups.
As the week went on the children in both groups made tremendous progress. The beginners mastered the sensible use of the chairlifts and made it to the top of the mountain skiing on green, blue and red runs, perfecting their snow ploughs and turns. In the meantime, the advanced group worked on their skiing positions and parallel turns on a variety of green and red runs. We were blessed with good weather and had a mixture of sunny blue skies and a few snow days with reasonable visibility.
When we weren’t skiing, we were kept extremely busy: eating delicious meals including crepes, drinking copious amounts of hot chocolate, followed by participating in the many evening activities such as tubing, bum boarding, bowling, a movie and pizza night.
All in all, it was a brilliant trip and I wish we could do it all again.
Here are a few comments made by the children:
• ‘I enjoyed the whole skiing experience because Katia was really kind and helpful. She taught us lots of techniques like ski positions and how to parallel ski’. (Leeya)
• ‘My favourite thing was tubing because it was my first time. I know I am very lucky to have gone on the trip because it costs money, so it was very special for me’. (Sota)
• I loved learning how to do jumps on skis’ (Taiga)
